Last year I added a line of cement home decor after researching Jesmonite- a product that is popular in the UK. I refined my process, found a medium, sealer, and pigment that I like. After trying many molds and learning to make my own I am finally happy with where I've landed. Gypsum cement is smooth and the color is bold- cement home decor items are durable modern and industrial. I'm happy to have a line of home decor items that are cohesive (although it's hard to stick to a color palette!) While I started with fiber arts and rug making, it seems like this is a good landing spot for me. I'm happy to say I got approved for a window art installation in Downtown Tacoma so I am not leaving tufting behind- simply using it more of a fine art and I still have my made to order pieces available. I will also do a few markets this year with my tufted stuff as well. I wish there was more time- I would start a digital asset store on Etsy, evolve my graphic design business more, do more tufting, refine and evolve my cement decor line- but at some point you need to focus! I'm excited about selling on Etsy this year, Faire, and a few markets!
